As reported by the Associated Press, weekend ATF and FBI raids in Michigan, Indiana, and Ohio captured eight people who were part of the Hutaree militia, which is a Christian militia. Those in question were suspected to be plotting to assassinate members of local law enforcement and then to kill all other officers at the later funerals, according to federal agents. The weekend raids were performed as a way of preventative maintenance. Many other unaffiliated Christian militia groups such as the Southeast Michigan Volunteer Militia will suggest that the Hutaree militia is “too extreme” or so says the AP.
What does the Hutaree Christian militia do?
On the Hutaree militia Christian militia Web site, the group claims the members “are prepared to defend all those who belong to Christ and save those who (don’t).” It is nevertheless unclear whether or not the action plan against the law enforcement was in related to preparation for the Second Coming or not, but the Hutaree group says they “will one day see (their) enemy and meet him on the battlefield if so God wills it.” It would be discouraged to use payday cash advances for weapons in this battle.
Charges range from conspiracy to attempted use of WMDs
The six Michigan residents, two Ohio residents and one Indiana resident are up on charges of “seditious conspiracy, attempted use of weapons of mass destruction (an Improvised Explosive Device, or IED), teaching the use of explosive materials, and possessing a firearm during a crime of violence,” according to the AP. The indictment and Department of Justice Press Release are on the public record.

Neighbors thought they were “nice” and didn’t know
It may be much more an indication of what Robert Frost was actually saying when he wrote about how “Good fences make good neighbors” than it speaks of the quality of the character of the different members of the militia group called Hutaree militia. Speaking of taking lessons from literature, the Hutaree militia’s extreme interpretation of the Bible is their way of coping with the “New World Order,” as they see it.
What are we to glean from this? If we are to follow the word of literature, then maybe we should take Jonathan Swift’s “A Modest Proposal” to heart and eat the kids to deal with overpopulation. Swift intended it as a satire since it would be completely nuts. Maybe “1984″ is a better model for our modern society. But wait, that’s the kind of totalitarian regime that Christian militias like the Hutaree militia would install. And what if they chose not to lay down their arms after – would we have a Hutareetocracy? Would, before applying for no faxing payday loans, a rendition of “Onward Christian Soldiers” be required?
